The Community Copies of The Geography

Hello Everyone.

The Geography has been out for about a month. Time is a very funny and curious thing.
Feels true. About a month. Could be about ten years, too. Could have been yesterday.
In any case, I am so proud and pleased that The Geography is reaching more and more people every day.
Proud and pleased that I was able to make something like The Geography, and that something like The Geography exists in the world.

There have been some nice people who have written very kindly about The Geography, too. Namely Lewis Gordon from Vice, Brock Wilbur from The Pitch and Brandon R. Chinn from Superjump. Each one kind and thoughtful, and generous. I really enjoyed Lewis' harrowing, warranted personal and global introspection triggered by the project. Brock's passionate engagement with The Geography would be what I considered a dream-scenario of someone to have with The Geography. He seemed to engage with the idea in the way I do, or rather, in the way that made me want to make something to be engaged with, in such a way. Brandon's piece was the first writing on The Geography, and likewise, seemed to formulate a really thoughtful embrace of The Geography as an application, and as a concept.

I don't want to bury the lede, either. I am very proud of myself, and also am glad other people said nice things. I'm very talented, you see. Anyway, the main reason for writing this blog post is below:

As a kind of celebratory gesture, I just wanted to write a quick post about the integration of Community Copies for The Geography.
Thanks to a collaborator of mine, Quinn Spence, for the idea! Chatting with Quinn, they mentioned the concept of 'Community Copies',  and how it all works, and it sounded like a wonderful idea! So, I'm going to offer the same sort of thing for The Geography going forward.

What are Community Copies?

Well, put simply, Community Copies are free copies of a product made available free of charge by the support of others in the community. Put even more simply, a 'pay-it-forward' sort of thing. One persons support grants the creator the ability to offer the product to someone else for free. Intended to be a way for those who are less financially able to support a project to be able to enjoy the project, too. Or for any reason that someone might not be able to pay for The Geography, with The Geographies meditative, and peace embracing nature, it seemed like a nice synergy.

Community Copies are available on the purchase page currently, and will allow anyone to grab a copy of The Geography for free, while the pool is available.

Primarily for those who are, for whatever reason, unable to purchase a copy of The Geography, and you would like to experience The Geography, you may help yourself to a copy for free, thanks to someone else who has already purchased The Geography.
Please be sure to only claim one of the free copies if you simply can not afford to pay for a copy.

For those of you curious, here's how it'll work:

Every copy of The Geography sold will add a copy to the Community Copies pool.
The Geography costs $10. For every purchase, one copy will be added to the Community Copies pool.
If someone pays $20 for The Geography, two copies will be added. If someone pays $30, three copies will be added, and so on.

As a gesture from me, and to show my appreciation for the support so far, I'll add 20 copies to the pool on the house, just to get things started. Once they run out, the Community Copies pool will be replenished as other's 'pay-it-forward' as well as for special occasions.

I hope you all are enjoying, and do enjoy The Geography very much.

All the best,
Michael.

p.s. I painted some fan art of my own game, because I am a fan, too, really.
